SolusTV / Edge Proxies

New in V2 · Edge Proxies

Small servers in front. Your servers behind.

Put small, cheap servers in front of your main server or a load balancer. They serve your viewers from close by — and viewers keep the same app, the same playlist and the same login.

01 — one page

Every edge, live, in one place

See which edges are online, how many viewers each one serves and how much it sends. Restart or drain any of them from here — no need to log in to the edge.

02 — adding one

Add an edge in one step

Enter the server's IP and SSH login, and choose which of your servers it stands in front of. The panel installs the rest — and can issue its HTTPS certificate too.

03 — resellers

Your resellers can run their own

Let a reseller put edges on their own servers, for their own users, under their own address. You decide per reseller, and you can switch any of them off.

How it works

Viewers are given the edge's address, not your server's

Diagram: the viewer watches in their usual app, the edge serves the viewer, your server stays behind the edge
one copy

Less load on your server

In mirror mode, an edge takes each watched channel from your server once and serves all its viewers from that copy.

failover

One goes down, others take over

A dead edge is noticed in about half a minute, and new viewers go to the other edges.

routing

Viewers go where it's best

Share viewers by free bandwidth, by country, by fewest connections or at random.

quota

A monthly limit per edge

Set how much an edge may send each month, so a cheap server stays inside its plan.

What you need

A small server with good bandwidth

A fresh Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 server with root SSH and its own public IP. A small VPS is enough: an edge needs bandwidth, not CPU or memory.

Edge Proxies is included in every SolusTV V2 panel, from release 2.0.97.

// measured in our lab, one example
mirror        53 live streams · ~15% of one core
pass-through 150 viewers · ~41% of one core
failover      picture back ~1 s after the player retries
